#INDIANA #smallbusiness #Immigrant #newAmericans - 🎵When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash... then I think of all the fabulous work being done by SBA Indiana District Office reaching and making a positive impact to grow more sustainable small businesses in Indiana and the Great Lakes region that are creating good jobs powering Indiana's economy and building wealth for more people!

My recent visit as SBA Great Lakes Regional Administrator to #Indianapolis included a surprise run-in and fun quikpic with Boilermaker Christina Hale SBA Associate Administrator, Office of Women's Business Ownership and Boomer the NBA Indiana Pacers' mascot. **But important was meeting with Bruce Garrison of Patchwork Indy nonprofit that serves and provides resources to the immigrant and refugee communities across the state.

As the child of immigrants, I know it's daunting to not know where to find and feel confident in trusted sources to navigate your financial security in America. With immigrants starting 1 in 5 businesses, and with the historic start-up boom under the Biden-Harris economic agenda that is Investing in America (18.5 m startups to date), it's important for the SBA to ensure the large diverse immigrant communities are connected to SBA field offices, especially since U.S. Census Bureau data shows Marion County, the state's most populous county, is now majority non-white. The district office is reaching Haitian, Asian American, Arab American/MENA, Latino immigrants and more ethnic communities in metropolitan, suburban and rural areas

Under the leadership of U.S. Small Business Administration Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman an agency priority is advancing equity and to meet people where they are. The SBA Indiana District Office is expanding its vibrant engagement with the Indiana's New American communities.

Patchwork Indy is working with the local field outeach office, SBA Indiana District Office to raise awareness, build relationships, connect them to no-cost counseling, affordable financing and reosurces to immigrant entrepreneurs for a more inclusive and stronger economy where everyone thrives in Indiana and with the SBA and good government partners like Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
