Dr. Gia Merlo is a highly accomplished professional with a diverse educational background, holding degrees in Medicine, Business Administration, and Education.

She pursued her Medical Degree at Nagarjuna University before specializing in Psychiatry with a residency and fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center, focusing on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Furthering her education, Dr. Merlo obtained an MBA from the Fox School of Business at Temple University, a Master of Education in Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University, and completed a Certified Financial Planner program at the College for Financial Planning.

Her commitment to medical education led her to complete a Master Teacher Fellowship in Medical Education at Baylor College of Medicine and a Post-Master's Certificate in Evidence-Based Teaching in the Health Professions from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Merlo has held various leadership and teaching positions including Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor at Rice University, and Associate Dean of Health Professions at Rice University.

She has also made significant contributions to the field of psychiatry through roles such as Child And Adolescent Psychiatrist at Texas Children's Hospital, Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, Staff Psychiatrist at The Menninger Clinic, and Faculty Psychiatrist at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Additionally, Dr. Merlo has a strong financial background as evidenced by her experience as Vice President of Investments at UBS Financial Services and as a Financial Advisor at Wachovia Securities, LLC.

She has been actively involved in professional organizations serving as the Founding Chair of the Lifestyle Psychiatry Caucus at the American Psychiatric Association, a Fellow at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and an Associate Editor at the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine.

Dr. Merlo is dedicated to community service and advocacy, having served as an Advisory Board Member at Child Advocates, Inc., and participating in non-profit initiatives.
