Goran Simić is a Serbian-Canadian poet and writer born in 1952 in Vlasenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.1 He is an internationally recognized author with works spanning poetry, essays, short stories, and theatre.1 Simić has published 25 books that have been translated into 12 languages.2

Simić's career highlights include:

  • Writing eleven volumes of poetry, drama, and short fiction13
  • Receiving the "Peoples Award" for his poetry work2
  • Surviving the Siege of Sarajevo and immigrating to Canada in 1995 with a Freedom to Write Award from PEN1
