Highlights
March marks my 5th year at LinkedIn, and the start of my most important job yet: raising a tiny human. As I head out on maternity leave for the next 6 months, I wanted to reflect on the immense gratitude I have for this company: 🍕 As you can see, when I started, I was over the moon about the amazing cafeteria, kombucha on tap, and seemingly endless company happy hours. Now that I work from home and as a soon-to-be parent, I'm grateful for a (truly) flexible work-life balance, awesome insurance, and a generous maternity leave (though I do miss the office snacks...). 💡 As a salesperson, I want to sell what I believe in. LinkedIn is a social platform that continues to do everything in its power to remain a force for good. It's a place that brings career opportunity and for me in the ads business, it's a safe place for businesses to grow. I'm grateful to sell a product and a vision I wholeheartedly believe in. 🎯 I've had 5 managers in 5 years, and normally, the odds are not in your favor that all 5 would be great. Yet, somehow, they ALL have been! LinkedIn, you really know how to hire coaches and champions, and I'm extremely grateful for that. (Matthew, Nicola, Ilanna, Rumya, and Dave). An extra shoutout to Dave who already has been on the road & in in-person meetings this week, picking up where I left off. 🤝 40 precious hours of every week.. so you better like the people you are working with! My gratitude for people extends beyond managers to my peers. Aaron Glazer and Jazzmin have been the best day-to-day partners, and my entire team made me tear up (though that's not all that hard right now 😉 ) on my final days before mat leave with their endearing well-wishes.
Here's to 5 years .. and here's to many dirty diapers in my future.
"My diagnosis with breast cancer at the age of 30 shattered my world. It challenged my sense of who I was and who I was becoming."
A dear friend of mine received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic. After "16 months of cancer treatment: 26 rounds of chemotherapy, four surgeries, six visits to the emergency room and hundreds of doctor appointments in between," Katie is a survivor.
But on top of battling cancer, she had to battle her insurance company in order to receive coverage for fertility preservation. Now, she's been battling for other people, urging CA to pass Senate Bill 729, requiring commercial insurance providers to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility.
Battling for your life should not also require battling insurance companies for the hope of one day starting a family.
As part of her commitment to supporting others, Katie is now very involved with an organization that provided her immense support through her journey, Bay Area Young Survivors. She's organizing a charity gala next month and, if you are able, I encourage you to support these fierce, young survivors. https://lnkd.in/gbrPKkgk.
