Highlights
Middle and high schoolers are the most disengaged they've ever been, especially if they're NOT planning on going to college.
According to Gallup's latest research, these students don't feel like they're being challenged in school. And with more and more Gen-Z students questioning the value of college, these kids want to hear more about alternative paths to good careers.
Some highlights from the study:
- 25% to 54% of Gen Z K-12 students are lacking engaging school experiences
- Engagement is particularly low among non-college-bound students
- Students are most excited to learn when teachers make it interesting
Shoutout to Katie Fang and the SchooLinks team for making it easier for K12 students to learn about non-college options!

It's amazing to see how far our Future of Higher Ed experiment from 2018 has come!
What started with 15 higher ed innovators at an Airbnb in Detroit has become a global community of ~3,000 founders and practitioners focused on the future of postsecondary education & training. Huge shout out to Ray Batra and Jake Weissbourd for building such an amazing community!
This past weekend I joined the Boston FOHE team's first local conference. Big thanks to organizers Michael Goldstein, Kaitlin Dumont, and David Shacklette!
We had working sessions, intense discussions, whiteboard ideations, and lots of time to bond. This is how all conferences should be run!
Look out DC, our local FOHE chapter, led by Colleen O'Connor, MBA, CSPO, is coming!
