As one the the volunteer campaigners for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and as Chair of the local branch, one of my roles is to discuss various campaigns with MP’s.

Last Friday I had a productive meeting with Robert Largan MP, in Whaley Bridge. Robert is one of the new MP’s and so it’s an opportunity to discuss what work is going on, tell them what services are in the area, and also discuss areas they can help with.

We’ve agreed to work together, as his constituency covers Derbyshire also, so we can try and use his influence to shape thinking with those on the county council, as well as those parts in Greater Manchester (our branch area) he covers that I’m actively working on

I’m lucky to enjoy strong support across political groups, and I’m thankful that MP’s understand why I care, which helps them want to help us achieve positive change, that can improve the lives of those with MND.

Campaigning might not be the most catchy of volunteering roles, but it can help improve people’s lives, my aim in every discussion I have, with every MP, councillor and / or health official. It does work!

Right folks, your help is needed!

Following the start of a new parliament, we want to make sure progress is made on our #Scrap6Months campaign, we’ve had some good media in the past week, but YOU can help!

Please ask your MP to back us, send a quick e-mail!

It’s easy to do, and you’ll help us make a difference!

I’ve been proud to work on this with both the Motor Neurone Disease Association who I campaign for as a volunteer, and Marie Curie UK who we’ve jointly worked on this with. Glad to say a number of the 25 MP’s I deal with, in Greater Manchester, are behind this. There are 650 in total though in the UK, so your help can make a difference!
