Was fortunate to attend the #FutureofBritain Conference 2024 in London last week. The timing of the event was serendipitous, coming in the afterglow of the Labour victory in the UK general election.
What struck me was the seriousness of the conversation around the opportunity for the UK in AI and how its can be deployed in order to harness productivity and growth. In his opening address Tony Blair told delegates, “I don’t think there is a better time to govern if we understand how the world is changing and how we respond to those changes.”
Tony Blair Institute for Global Change research suggests that public sector reform could create an additional £12 billion of fiscal space by the end of this government’s term and around £40 billion by the end of the next term.
