Some great visuals to explain the #development finance and #climate finance flows to #SEAsia. Bottom line, financing is dropping, and dominated by a couple of bilaterals and Multilaterals such as Asian Development Bank (ADB) and #Japan and #China, but for the rest, slim pickings. After a pandemic-related surge in support, total official development finance to the region fell to a new low of $26 billion in 2022.
Has anyone done modelling on this? What happens to retail forecourts when there are not enough ICE vehicles to support a particular location. what is the tipping point? Just like charging proximity affects EV purchase decisions so will it affect ICE vehicles sales attractiveness. At some point, the death spiral of distance to fill up the tank and retail locations closing, has to happen. At what market penetration does this occur? Or will forecourts simply continue to colocate with charging and newsagent retail with fewer pumps? Any thoughts?
Energy Innovation modeling shows that post-Inflation Reduction Act #IRA #EV sales are actually at the highest end of initial estimates, on track to hit transportation sector #emissions reduction targets. Perhaps that’s due to average transaction prices for EVs in the U.S. falling to just under $51,000 in December 2023, closing the cost parity gap with gas-powered cars to just $2,000.
Despite lots of seemingly planted anti EV press, the market is advancing on aggregate very well. Some blips in markets like Germany but overall swimmingly. What estimates have not taken into account to date is the rapid reduction in cost for premium vehicles and increasing entry level vehicles.
