I got an unexpected sales call yesterday from a close friend; she’s a corporate risk officer at a decent-sized Houston law firm, and she looped me into a conference call, asking me to talk about GTG.Online’s latest forensic product.
For background: I’ve never formally done sales before, although I do have a decent instinct for it.
My background is product development, and actually that’s how I got involved in GTG.
I’ve known the CEO of GTG for over a decade - both of us are Tenable alumni - and when I heard about his idea for solving business email compromise, I volunteered my software development resources to accelerate product development.
Additionally, I volunteered to spearhead sales because it’s the best way to demonstrate to the team how much I believe in the product.
My friend has been tracking our progress, so she jumped me into a heated internal conference call and asked me to talk about GTG Inspector.
GTG Inspector is an essential forensic tool for organizations to immediately determine if they have indicators of business email compromise, but the current version requires MS365.
The email administrator sadly informed me that they are hosting their own exchange servers, and that left me flat-footed.
Do people still do that? Is that still a thing? 😮
I let my friend know this represents fairly significant risk to her employer’s reputation, I mean: in addition to cost savings, there’s a lot of reasons why most organizations have transitioned to MS365.
Or are self-hosted Exchange boxes still a normal thing? 🤔

It’s Thanksgiving, and the extended family has agreed to meet at Grandma‘s house. 🦃

And after monologuing in the living room about his new Tesla, and about how one of his followers on Twitter said he is the modern-man’s messianic zeitgeist (what?), Rick (with the silent P) steps into the kitchen, elbows the cooks out of his way, removes the turkey from the oven, and replaces it with a pie.
It’s because Rick is ready for dessert 🥇
And as the half-baked turkey cools, Rick eats half a slice and walks out the door leaving the cooks and guests to figure out how to salvage their meal.
That is the domain of AI.
