The AI Act: What you need to know On July 12, 2024, the AI Act was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, officially marking the new legislation. Effective August 1, 2024, this pioneering law aims to regulate AI by categorizing systems into four risk levels, from prohibited systems to minimally regulated ones. The AI Act sets an ambitious legal framework for ethical and secure AI while supporting innovation within the EU.
Problem: Unregulated AI can threaten individual rights, especially with technologies like facial recognition or social scoring systems.
Solution: The AI Act establishes standards for each category:
- Categorical Prohibitions: Social credit, facial recognition, etc.
- High Risk: Sensitive sectors (health, justice) with strict controls.
- Low Risk: Transparency for users.
- Minimal Risk: Light regulation.
3-Step action plan:
- Identify your AI category: Determine the risk level according to the AI Act criteria.
- Implement legal requirements: Take the necessary measures to comply with the law (controls, transparency, updates to IT charters).
- Monitor legal developments: Adjust your strategy to remain compliant as regulations evolve.
Implementation: July 12, 2024: Official publication of the law. August 1, 2024: Gradual entry into force of obligations. 2025-2026: Full rollout of obligations for companies, with deadlines for compliance. Risks of non-compliance: Ignoring the AI Act can lead to hefty fines and a loss of customer trust. Benefits of compliance: Complying with the AI Act ensures better risk management, protects the company’s reputation, and promotes responsible innovation. Are meetings killing our productivity?
Have you noticed how much time we spend in meetings? An average of 62 hours per month! And guess what? About 37% of that time is completely unproductive. Middle managers spend around 35% of their time in meetings, while executives hit 50%. In the US alone, unnecessary meetings waste over $25 million every day, totaling about $37 billion annually. ⛔ source: https://lnkd.in/ew4RKRFR
Of course, up-to-date meetings are essential for us to collaborate effectively. There are numerous of AI meeting assistants that can help by:
- improving scheduling : Finding the best times for everyone involved, reducing scheduling conflicts.
- Automating Follow-ups: Sending out summaries, action items, and reminders to keep everyone on track.
- Real-time Insights: Analyzing meeting content to ensure discussions are on-topic and productive. But let's be real—AI alone isn't enough. We need to start measuring how this is impacting us ..
