🔐 Advancing Cybersecurity in ASEAN: Thailand Cybersecurity Capacity Building Workshop 🔐
We are thrilled to share that the Thailand Cybersecurity Capacity Building Workshop was conducted virtually on August 29-30, 2024. This effort is part of the ASEAN Cybersecurity Capacity Building Program, a U.S. State Department initiative to provide technical assistance and support Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) capabilities in the ASEAN region.
Administered by Cambridge Global Advisors and Election Integrity Foundation, in partnership with National Cyber Security Agency (Thailand), #USEmbassySingapore, and #USEmbassyBangkok, this workshop addressed some of the most pressing issues in cybersecurity today. Key topics included the impact of artificial intelligence on cybersecurity, emerging cyber threats, ICS and SCADA systems, vehicle security, and protection of critical infrastructure. This collaborative event fostered a valuable exchange of knowledge, strategies, and best practices to combat emerging cyber risks.
A special thank you to AVM Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary General, National Cyber Security Agency of Thailand #NCSA. His exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to advancing cybersecurity in the country have been crucial in driving significant progress and establishing a robust framework for cyber defense. We also extend our sincere gratitude to AVM Jadet Khuhakongkit for all his contributions and his pivotal role in organizing this workshop. Thailand's ongoing commitment to enhancing its cybersecurity posture demonstrates a proactive approach to addressing the complex challenges of the digital age.
Additionally, thank you to Harri Hursti, Aapo Oksman, Lena Yu, and Abby Land for all their invaluable insights and contributions.
Together, we are making significant strides in securing our digital cyberspace and fortifying our collective cybersecurity posture. 🌐🔒

🔒 Reflecting on a Great Event! 🔒
I’m grateful to have participated as a panel speaker alongside General Francis X Taylor and Harri Hursti, with Rob Starr moderating, at the Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure virtual discussion during the 18th Annual Southern California Water Conference on August 9th. 🎤💻
A key topic of our discussion was the increasing frequency and severity of cyberattacks against water utilities across the United States. Recent findings from the EPA reveal that about 70% of water utilities inspected violated standards meant to prevent breaches or intrusions. Some systems are falling short in basic cyber hygiene areas, such as failing to change default passwords or cut off system access to former employees. This underscores the urgent need for improved cyber hygiene, cyber measures, and proactive strategies to enhance resilience.
It was a valuable opportunity to share insights and strategies for strengthening cyber defenses and ensuring the security of critical infrastructure. A big thank you to all who attended and contributed to these crucial conversations.
