The internet works best when people have access to credible and reliable information. As I told the The Washington Post, we appreciate the Federal Trade Commission's new rule banning fake reviews because it helps platforms combat bad actors who want to misuse our products by spamming or posting misleading information. This is a step in the right direction and we will continue to invest in technology, file affirmative litigation, and advocate for policy that makes the internet a more useful place.

I am fortunate to lead a legal department that not only advocates for responsible innovation but also proactively defends our users and products. WIRED does a nice job highlighting how our affirmative litigation and cyber legal teams work together to help bolster Google’s cybersecurity efforts. Yes, these legal filings help set legal precedent but they also help with technical takedowns, which has led to less abuse of our products. There’s always more work to do to protect people who use our products but I am happy with the progress we’ve made.
