Highlights
Last-mile delivery stands out as the supply chain's most inefficient segment due to factors such as small order sizes, limited consolidation, network constraints, tight timeframes, and the dynamic nature of geographically dispersed locations. Last-mile transportation contributes approximately 25% of greenhouse gas emissions in urban areas, with projections indicating a 32% increase in carbon emissions from urban delivery by 2030.
The POV presented outlines challenges and solutions for sustainable last-mile delivery in e-commerce. It discusses the increase in emissions, conflicts among stakeholders, and innovative strategies like green delivery options and crowd logistics. Adopting these solutions can enhance operations and reduce environmental impact.

I, along with my colleagues at Wipro, had the opportunity to attend a sustainability symposium at Delft University of Technology on May 31st. The event had inspiring speeches from top sustainability experts, interactive workshops led by students, and engaging discussions about using technology and our own efforts to make a greener and more sustainable future.
Wipro conducted two #workshops for students and alumni of Delft University around the topics of #sustainable energy and #transportation. Each workshop presented the participants with a real Wipro case study and challenged them to act as consultants using a simple consulting framework.
It was a fantastic experience! Hans Hertzberger Kris Mortier Sara Huggins Alexandros Vardalakis Diya Bhavnani
