Hamish McKenzie is a co-founder of Substack, a platform simplifying the creation of paid newsletters.

He is the author of 'Insane Mode: How Elon Musk's Tesla Sparked an Electric Revolution to End the Age of Oil', released in November 2018.

With a background in journalism, Hamish was a lead writer for Tesla and a reporter for tech blog PandoDaily. He has also worked as a freelancer, contributing to publications worldwide covering technology, business, pop culture, and politics.

Hamish McKenzie holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Otago, a Master of Arts in Journalism from Western University, and has studied at Y Combinator.

His organizational roles include being the Co-Founder and Chief Operations Officer at Substack, Editorial Advisor at Kik Interactive, Inc., Lead Writer at Tesla, Reporter at PandoDaily, and positions at Independent, Timeout Hong Kong, Digital Media, and Critical Publications.
