Staff Attorney & Program Manager - National Security and Civil Rights

Hammad Alam is a highly educated individual with a diverse academic background.

He holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) with a focus on Critical Race Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law.

In addition to his legal expertise, he also pursued a Master of Theological Studies in Islamic Studies from Harvard Divinity School.

Furthermore, he attended the USC Cambridge Summer Programme at the prestigious University of Cambridge and completed his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science and Government from the University of Southern California.

Hammad Alam has been actively involved in various organizations, demonstrating his commitment to civil rights and social justice.

Currently, he serves as a Staff Attorney & Program Manager for National Security and Civil Rights at Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Asian Law Caucus.

Previously, he held the position of Staff Attorney in the same department within the organization.

His leadership skills were evident when he served as the Interim Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Muslim Student Association West (MSA West).

Hammad Alam has also been engaged in impactful legal work as an Equal Justice Works Fellow specializing in Impact Litigation at Asian Americans Advancing Justice│Los Angeles.

His legal career began as a Judicial Law Clerk at the U.S. District Courts followed by an Associate role at Crowell & Moring LLP.

He gained valuable experience as a UCLA Law Asylum Clinic Student at Public Counsel and as a Summer Associate at Crowell & Moring LLP.

Furthermore, he honed his skills through a Judicial Externship at the U.S. Department of Labor.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Hammad Alam's compassion and care for others were evident during his time as a Spiritual Care Chaplain Intern at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
