Ever wondered how your bed could revolutionize your health? Eight Sleep is doing just that, and here's why it's more than just a smart mattress.

As an Eight Sleep user, biometrics nerd, and someone who prides himself on trying all the latest toys, I've experienced firsthand how it's changed my sleep quality. I give two paws up.

In a recent Not Boring article, Packy McCormick dives deep into Eight Sleep's journey and innovation. Now, I'm even more impressed by the company behind it. Key takeaways:

  1. Your bed can be a biometric lab, ensuring consistent nightly use.
  2. Eight Sleep's founders pivoted from a non-invasive sleep tracker to a full sleep system.
  3. The company's vision extends beyond sleep to overall health optimization.

I stumbled upon an interesting thread in the academic world that discussed the power of encouraging a younger person to be aspirational.

The original post argues that pushing people earlier in their careers may have a positive impact on their lives, using belief in the young person to inspire more ambition and possibilities in their career.

However, as the discussion unfolds, it takes a different turn. Some individuals, despite the encouragement, end up never achieving their dreams. This raises the question: how culpable are leaders when their faith is misplaced, leading someone to spend years believing they could be someone, only to fail to live up to that expectation every day?

This debate touches on a significant dilemma—whether the potential benefits of encouragement outweigh the risks of fostering unrealistic expectations. I’ve personally experienced both the positive and negative effects of such encouragement, which has left me reflecting on how I should approach my role at work.

If you're interested in exploring this thought exercise further, I recommend checking out the article.
