Highlights
Really engaging speakers and interesting discussions at yesterday's UK Business Angels Association's Women Backing Women event 👏
One particularly interesting point raised by Marla Shapiro (Founder of HERMESA) was that the new HNW individual income thresholds coming into force in January 2024 will disproportionately impact women and other minorities from becoming angel investors, with a very small number of women in the UK likely to meet the new higher threshold of income of at least £170,000, or net assets of at least £430,000 in the last financial year.
Although this sends a negative message, there are other ways to become an angel investor, and I came away from the event feeling very inspired!
