I'm happy to announce the alpha release of My.Alt-Text.org: https://lnkd.in/gFE4CzKJ

It's a composer built for writing alt text, with a number of features still to come. Highlights of the alpha release:

  • An archive of everything you've composed with it, searchable by text or image
  • OCR with 100+ languages supported
  • Text splitting

I don't have the skills to make it accessible. If you'd like to help with that or more generally there's a link to the GitHub on the page.

Try it out. Let me know what you think.

I'm building a site targeted at composing alt text, and I've got what I think is a pretty cool feature set so far. I'd love ideas for other features.

  • Archive of all the text you make in it, searchable by text or image
  • OCR with in-page cropping, support for 40+ languages including non-latin - alphabets
  • User-controlled extracted text cleanup, including support for arbitrary search/replaces, regex supported
  • Splitting to fit max len, with dynamic editing and addtl localized images available
  • Page localization support
  • Everything done locally in-browser, site is static
  • Quick follow-on with browser extensions

It's at about 90% of an alpha. I'm speaking to accessibility experts about best approaches. You can check out an earlier iteration of the project at
