Highlights
Education is not a linear journey.
After 10 decent GCSEs, I opted to go straight to work at 16yo and loved it!
A City & Guilds in Sound Engineering at 18yo helped support my career development, then a p/t Foundation degree at 25yo helped me progress from one career path to another in the brilliant creative sector.
A p/t PGCert at 45yo helped me learn so much, particularly about myself. Whilst not the strongest academically it helped me realise I have so much potential and has given me confidence in my abilities and new perspectives.
Goimg to university wasn't an option that was discussed or highlighted at my secondary school so working in Higher Education and at the brilliant University of Derby whose passion for social mobility aligns with my own is something I never take for granted.
Nothing worth having is easy. Never stop learning. Take every opportunity and make the most of it. There are no limits.
