Hannu Kauppinen is an entrepreneurial executive with a passion for transforming advanced technology research into profitable ventures. His interests span across various cutting-edge fields such as 6G broadband, IoT wireless communication, quantum communication and computing, AR/VR, sensors, nanomaterials, health technology, data analytics, and AI/ML.

Throughout his career, Hannu has excelled in creating and managing research portfolios, assembling high-performing teams, and driving external innovation through M&A and partnerships. His work has significantly contributed to accelerating go-to-market strategies and introducing new products. He has operated in prominent tech hubs like the Silicon Valley, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, and Finland.

With a rich educational background that includes a Doctor of Technology in Physics and an Executive MBA, Hannu has honed his expertise in both technical and business domains. His leadership roles have spanned global R&D and IPR organizations across multiple continents, overseeing teams of up to 500 professionals.

Notably, Hannu has held key positions at Nokia, where he served as the global Head of Nokia Research Center and CTO of Nokia Technologies. Under his guidance, Nokia built a leading patent portfolio in mobile technologies, laying the foundation for a successful billion-euro patent and technology licensing business. Moreover, he co-founded Quuppa, a rapidly growing company specializing in real-time location systems.

Beyond his corporate roles, Hannu Kauppinen has also contributed to various organizations as a board member, keynote speaker, and active participant in the Finnish innovation community. His diverse experiences and expertise make him a versatile and influential figure in the technology and business landscape.
