Highlights
Successful finish to the Prefontaine Classic. Amazing performances by so many of the best athletes in the world. Two world records and multiple meet records over the past couple of days. Proud to have such a great team led by some of the best out there. Thank you to Robyn Pester MS, PT, ATC, CSCS, Don Butzner, Jacqueline Sher, MS, ATC, and Rich Gorman for helping to get everyone fit and ready to go. Charles Kenyon, DO, MS, CSCS, Erin Wos, and Rob Callahan for helping me with competition physician coverage. It is a team sport, and all of these people helped make it all happen and created a positive vibe the whole time. Eric Peterson provided a great atmosphere to do our work too. Great job to all and thanks to TrackTown USA for making the Prefontaine the best event for the Wanda Diamond League finals. Lucky to work with you all!
I am watching the World Championships in Budapest from afar and reflecting on our past experience in Eugene last year. It was a very tough, but rewarding and educational experience. One year out, I have now moved on from that experience to continue supporting athletic events in Eugene as medical director for TrackTown USA. Events like the upcoming Prefontaine Classic are most definitely a team sport. Planning and coordinating is just one part, but I can't say how much I appreciate all of the help and expertise we get locally (and beyond) to make these events the best they can be. It takes help from physicians / physician groups, physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, athletic trainers, imaging partners, hospitals, and more, to make for great events and continue a culture of excellence for our community. It is great to be able to continue learning new things from all of these people and disciplines. Thanks to all of the volunteers that help to make these events succeed and continue to make Eugene a destination for elite level international events. #Hayward #trackandfield #tracktownusa #eventmedicine #Prefontaine
