Being a founder in the #digitalassets space over the past year has been eventful, to say the least.

6 themes to look out for as we gear up for the next bull market:

  1. New blood.

The old guard is approaching ten years in the space.

Many who are burnt out or have made their money are starting to transition to the next phase of their lives.

This provides a massive opportunity for the next wave of builders.

  1. Capital raising will mimic traditional fintech.

The most adopted fintech solutions tend to have the largest financial institutions as investors.

Why own it if you don't use it, or vice versa?

Super angels, DAOs, and protocol foundations will lead the next wave of funding.

  1. Risk aversion is here to stay (for now).

A lot of people have lost money from participating in complex, experimental solutions.

Prioritizing simplicity by reducing the amount of logic on ledger will help mitigate this.

  1. Gov is King/Queen.

Many protocols have decentralized.

In connection with the old guard moving on, the token holders have all the power.

Now what?

Governance will regenerate excitement across the entire space.

  1. Having a soul is protocol alpha.

Tech can be copied.

What cannot be copied is an ethos, brand, and facilitation of connecting humans.

  1. Protocol transcendence.

The digital asset space is exhausting. It can also be toxic.

Part of what has made #bitcoin successful is the protocol's importance over its founders (who is Satoshi anyway?)

Protocol-first ethos is more sustainable and inviting with more potential.

TLDR:

We are in the middle of an overhaul in the digital asset space in terms of how protocols are designed, operated, and funded.

The remainder of 2023 will continue to be exciting, to say the least.

The crypto industry has had a devastating year - largely due to the fallout of overzealous speculators and fraudsters, and unclear regulations.

The consensus view is that #Defi is Dead.

And I'm here to tell you that this couldn't be further from the truth.

As global balance sheets tighten, DeFi's importance increases tenfold.

Firstly #DeFi doesn’t need to be complex.

If we called it #FinTech, it would probably feel less scary.

DeFi is storing money on your phone, you just can't lose the password.

It’s sending money to someone in seconds, no matter where they are in the world.

It’s borrowing money at the same terms as everyone else.

We use Web2 products to do these things all the time.

The difference is that traditional FinTech usually includes some centralized organization that is slow, expensive, or inaccessible.

And as global liquidity gets tighter - as the world fights over a contracting pie - what happens when you are cut off from capital?

If you live in a country without a trusted financial system - where where would you rather store your money - in a shady bank or on your own phone/hardware?

In web2, applications don't succeed because of whether they deployed on AWS or GCP.

The same will be true of dapps and blockchains.

In a world where on-chain liquidity can flow to where its most needed, #DeFi developers will more access to capital, as funds from other networks will be able to securely teleport using the dReservoir developed by DAM

And the nature of that liquidity - being sourced on chain - will better align network participants, increase the efficiency of capital distribution, and exponentially increase #DeFi adoption globally.

DeFi exists because the traditional system is broken beyond repair.

With that, I’m thrilled to share that DAM has deployed Moonwalkers Testnet which enables the secure mobility of liquidity from #Ethereum to #Polkadot.

Let us know if you are interested in partnering - we strongly believe that 1 + 1 can equal 5 when accelerating the liquidity flywheel.
