Highlights
I’m very excited to share the news that I’ve been appointed to the role of Executive Vice President for Financial Excellence and CFO of Belmont University!
It’s also very meaningful to me that I’ll continue my involvement with Studio Bank through my appointment as Vice Chairman of its Board of Directors. Belmont’s entrepreneurial spirit has long been with me and is with me still. This moment feels like homecoming.
Since graduating from Belmont 20 years ago this month, I’ve enjoyed serving in many leadership roles on campus from Alumni Association President to Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees. This new executive leadership appointment is significant in many ways. I am excited to join President L Gregory Jones and his leadership team at a time of such significant growth, and the foundation upon which we’ll continue to build is incredibly strong.
Hope abounds!

Are you a curious leader? Is yours a curious organization?
One of my favorite series of books and cartoons as a kid was Curious George. Yes, the trouble George got into often frustrated the Man in the Yellow Hat, but each adventure ended with George (and me) learning something new about himself and the world around him.
I’ve often remarked that our ability and urge to create things is what truly makes us special. And that’s true. What else on earth can imagine something and then make it real in the world? Can AI imagine? 🤷🏾♂️
The best leaders among us are not only imaginative, but also curious. Matching our innate need to create with a natural curiosity challenges the status quo, pushes thinking deeper, and sets our aspirational aims higher. Asking powerful questions like “Why?”, “How?” and “What if…?” keeps us learning and inspires new ideas. These questions can help us maintain a growth mindset or even push us into a “possibility”mindset…allowing for richer problem solving and more collaborative innovation.
Creativity and curiosity…two very powerful traits of the best among us. Cultivate these and see just how far you’ll go. 🎈
