When I first saw this little tree in my backyard, I thought it was a persistent weed. Determined to clear it out, I cut it down. I thought I’d won, but the following year, it came back stronger. Again, I cut what I could and twisted its slender limbs, hoping to stop it for good.
That summer, life got a little too busy, and I didn’t have as much time to keep up with the weed removal. To my surprise and dismay, the weed flourished.
By the next Spring, it had grown waist-high and was adorned with deep purple flowers—so beautiful that I couldn’t bring myself to remove it. Over the next three years, this once-unwanted "weed" transformed into a resilient tree with a unique, twisted trunk that provides remarkable shade for all the plants around it.
Every time I look at it, I’m reminded that even when growth seems impossible, and despite the challenges that twist and shape you along the way, you can come out stronger and more beautiful. Just like this tree, the obstacles we face can add to our character, making us who we are truly meant to be.
