Highlights
Our employee referred someone to work for us (and got paid a referral bonus) and had never met them before.
And I think it is amazing!
We were in a company all hands where we welcome new hires. We also make sure to take time to thank the employee that referred them over to us.
The questions came - how do you guys know each other? They said, in unison, “we don’t”. The new hire said, that she had hoped to be able to meet her referrer on her first day.
But how is this possible? Don’t we just refer people we know?
We don’t. And we encourage our clients to do the same.
Here’s the big idea - turn your employees into marketers of your jobs, not recruiters.
We create a personalized referral link for each employee that they can share with friends, families, strangers in neighborhood Facebook groups, we even had an employee that put it on her Linktree! The idea is to have these links easily available and shareable to attract new and possibly passive job seekers to your open roles.
Put these new referrals into your hiring process and you have diversified your candidate flow and found an additional source of hires for your business.
Employee referrals is a feature of our software ApplicantPro but also our number one source of hires!
Why are leadership offsites so powerful?
I’m sure there are some really impressive and powerful statistics backed by amazing data.
But I don’t have those.
Rather, I’d love to tell you a few things that I personally learned coming off of our offsite this week:
*Taking time to work ON the business is always a good idea. When you are IN the day-to-day of the business, it is hard to keep the major goals and vision in view.
*A different level of creativity and problem solving is unlocked in those rooms and in an open, collaborative environment. It is so fun to watch it evolve over the time we are together.
*Memories and a deeper level of trust are developed when you have a chance to truely hang out. We have all sorts of stories, laughs, celebrations, and even a few vulnerable moments mixed in there.
Deepening connections as a leadership team allows for a more unified mission and purpose.
Covid took experiences like these from us. And I feel like we never quite got them back.
But we should fight to make them happen.
Our leaders, our teams, and ourselves will be stronger because we do.
I am feeling so thankful tonight for the incredibly dedicated, talented, and driven leaders I get to work with everyday.
Special thank you to Craig Beirdneau, Dr. Bobby Low, Brad Jensen, and Brian A. for sharing your incredible insights with us.
