A successful energy transition is critical - not just for our climate. but the security and resilience of our economies and our energy systems. Vestas is responsible for delivering this, with our partners across the energy landscape.   It was a pleasure hosting our annual Vestas Leadership Forum (VLF), focusing on how we as leaders can make it happen. A big thank you to Robert Maersk Uggla, Markus Krebber, Christina Grumstrup Soerensen, Torsten Lodberg Smed, Kevan Hall, Martin Lundstedt, Anders Runevad, and all the speakers for your insights and to my passionate Vestas colleagues for your engagement.

Recognising some of our team members through felicitations and awards was an honor. Congratulations! Keep powering Vestas with your energy Thanks also to Bjørg de Meza, our event photographer and to Flemming Fog, Gry Knoop Østergaard, ProShop Europe A/S and the full team behind putting the event together - none of it would be possible without you.

This year’s VLF reinforced my belief that we have what it takes to lead. Going forward, Vestas must continue to build on the positive momentum of our underlying performance and execute on our strategy to get back on track.

The IEA forecasts that by 2025, electricity from renewables will surpass coal for the first time. With strong collaboration, our industry can shape a strong value chain that’s ready to deliver on these projections. This, in combination with our political stakeholders shaping a business environment that accelerates renewables, will be key to securing our sustainable energy future.

Why invest in renewable energy infrastructure? That was the focus of a panel debate I attended with SEB and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Thank you to my fellow panelists, Åsa Knudsen Sterte from SEB, Christina Grumstrup Soerensen from CIP, and Børge Brende from WEF for your insights.

Wind energy is central to a reliable, sustainable energy system and plays a key role in security and industrial policy. An IEA report highlights that clean energy technologies are the most affordable, considering lifetime costs. The NZE 2050 pathway is also cheaper globally than current policies (STEPS).  It indeed is cheaper to save the planet than to destroy it.

Looking at our long-term gains is a critical argument to accelerate renewables. To scale wind energy and unlock its full potential, our industry, led by Vestas, must focus on optimising technology and quality - instead of furthering an arms race. At the same time, the external market environment needs to address permitting bottlenecks and design a realistic offshore market.

We are at a pivotal moment for action. Let's work together and deliver a successful energy transition.
