NO, GENERATIVE AI ISN’T KILLING CREATIVITY 🔥: 130 free pages of facts, opinions, projects, and already years of experience with Generative AI, by myself, and at DOGSTUDIO/DEPT®

Wait, what's this?

Well, after spending countless hours educating myself and trying new things, I am now sharing with you a lot of what I have learned and understood, created on my own but also especially everything we have already done at DOGSTUDIO/DEPT® over the last two years. This one is focused on imagery and video, but there are also countless things to say about audio, LLM, data, personalization, etc...

You obviously know everyone is speaking about AI these days, but you also likely know that while there are only a handful of creators constantly exploring new ideas at the speed of technology, most agencies with big claims and investments in AI still don't have much to show for it... soooo I also threw an entire section about the R&D and the very real projects we have achieved at DOGSTUDIO/DEPT® . We have been busy to say the least...

So, please read it, share it to a maximum of people around you, and educate yourself further because 'There's no putting back the genie in the bottle', so we might as well understand how to formulate our wishes in the future.

Looking forward to hearing your comments. Oh, this is also a living document which is likely to evolve in the future as the technology itself evolves at the speed of light.

Enjoy!

Wait for it... A few weeks ago I went bowling with my son Billy. Back then, I took this video of the first time he actually threw the bowling ball without those kind of helping ramps. Now, while everyone is having fun trying to simply animate still shots using GenAI (Runway, Luma, Pika, Kling for most), I figured it could be an opportunity to use my imagination and bend the reality of an actual existing moment instead of creating it from nothing.

A little manipulation, some manual rework, a few AI and traditional tricks later, and some editing to get this result which cracks me up every single time (mostly thanks to him raising his arms in joy when the ball hits)

I of course showed him the result and he also was cracked up, already coming with suggestions for other things to do. On the back of that statement from the Procreate CEO saying they would never integrate AI in their software (fine, it is already a great tool anyway), I am more than ever convinced there is potential to augment human creativity through generative tools and seeing my kid's reaction and how it sparked new creative ideas is another confirmation there is some good from what is currently happening.

Not replacing human creativity...augmenting it.

PS: He actually got a spare on that one
