What’s the Lesson Learned?
The importance of IT Change Management can't be overstated. This case is a prime example of what happens when a system change doesn’t undergo the necessary rigor. Specifically, it highlights the risks of a "big bang" approach—making changes and moving on without proper follow-up. Instead, the tried-and-true method of rolling out changes incrementally, starting with a small subset of users, monitoring the impact, and validating the results before a full-scale deployment, can help prevent issues like those encountered by flawed deployment of Crowd Strike update. Taking the time to manage changes carefully can save your organization from the challenges that arise when shortcuts are taken.
In addition to proven change management practices, it's crucial that service provider agreements include protections against such issues. Ensuring there is a proper liability cap in place can provide essential safeguards, reducing the risk exposure in the event of unforeseen problems. #ChangeManagement #Cybersecurity #ITStrategy #CIO #RiskManagement #LessonsLearned
