Klaytn and Finschia have recently announced their integration into a new mainet. Klaytn's backer is Kakao, and Finschia's backer is LINE, these are the largest messenger app operators in each country. The integrated blockchains will be compatible with EVM from Klaytn and CosmWasm from Finschia, this means inheriting the strengths of the two existing blockchains each, and each of the existing tokens will be swapped into the new native token. The ecosystem formed by this integration is expected to include more than 420 dApps and over 250 million wallets.
Both of these blockchains have struggled to involve crypto projects that would attract deep crypto fans. However, with the recent development of the environment in the crypto industry and the future of mass adoption of web3, the potential of this new ecosystem with its huge consumer pool is immense. These blockchains have implemented some of the functions of exchanges and DeFi in the wallet of the messenger apps provided by the group companies. In Japan, web3 space is very active these days, especially in the existing game industry, and they have a lot of resources for development and marketing that the existing web3 players did not have so far, and they have set much higher goals and are aiming for global success. It would not be surprising to see the power structure of the existing players being largely rearranged in the process of web3 tech mass adoption by the entry of major web2 companies.
