Time for change for female founders!
Hard stats: 🛑 Women receive a shocking 1.8% of venture capital funding (3.5% last year in the UK). 🛑 Angel investment, often crucial for female founders, is at a ten-year low.
Change is needed.
There are so many reasons to invest in female founders but to try and summarise why gender equality within the fundraising landscape matters:
💰 More money in the pockets of female founders -> more job creation and promotion of women -> better returns on investment -> more money in the hands of women -> more progress towards gender equality -> more economic growth 📈 More money in the pockets of female founders -> (...you get the picture)
The funding inequality is recognised by the Rose Review and one recommendation is to encourage more angel investment by women.
Emma Sinclair MBE is tackling this with her #BeMyAngel initiative and the chance to invest in her company EnterpriseAlumni

I am proud that Crowdcube is a part of this movement encouraging and enabling more women to become angel investors.
75k newly registered female investors joined Crowdcube in 2023, representing 33% of all news users. And we expect to surpass this in 2024 - but we still have so much more to do.
