Dr. Hedy Fry, an accomplished and respected individual, made history by being the first rookie to defeat an incumbent prime minister, Kim Campbell, when first elected to Parliament from Vancouver-Centre in 1993.

Her dedication to public service led her to serve as the Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and the Status of Women from 1996 to 2002, earning admiration from cultural communities in Canada and beyond.

In 2006, Dr. Fry pursued the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada with her 'True Grit' campaign, showcasing her commitment to grassroots engagement.

During her tenure in the Liberal Opposition from 2006 to 2015, she expertly handled critic portfolios including Sport and the 2010 Olympic Games, Heritage, and Health.

Before her political career, Dr. Fry was a familiar face on CBC television's 'Doctor, Doctor' and a prominent family physician in Vancouver's West End for two decades, establishing herself as a notable figure in medical politics.

Her leadership extended to roles such as president of the Vancouver and British Columbia Medical Associations, where she demonstrated exceptional negotiation skills, securing Canada's first retirement plan for doctors.

Currently, Dr. Fry serves as the Special Representative for Gender Issues at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Parliamentary Assembly, further solidifying her commitment to important societal issues.
