He holds an MSc in Energy in the Built Environment from Cranfield University and a BEng in Combined Engineering from Coventry University, showcasing his strong academic background.

Ian Dunn has held several key positions at Coventry University, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Experience, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Empowerment), Acting Dean of Engineering and Computing, Associate Dean of Engineering and Computing, Principal Lecturer of Engineering, and Senior Lecturer of Engineering Design.
