Ian Leahy is a passionate advocate for connecting human development with nature, aiming for a harmonious relationship with natural systems.

With a diverse background in nonprofit, city government, and for-profit business ownership, Ian collaborates with cities nationwide to enhance American Forests' urban forest programs and promote innovation for sustainable ecosystems.

Ian Leahy studied Natural Resources, Resource Policy and Management at Cornell University and pursued a Master of Environmental Management from Yale University.

Currently serving as the Vice President of Urban Forestry at American Forests, Ian has held various roles such as Director of Urban Forest Programs at American Forests, District of Columbia Urban & Community Forestry Coordinator at District of Columbia, Urban Forestry Instructor at City of Baltimore, and more.

His experience also includes being the Managing Editor for Communities and Forests at Alliance for Community Trees, Owner/Manager at North Winds Landscape, and Urban/Rural Program Manager at American Forests.
