Highlights
For the past 2.5 years, my hours have been consistently 6am-10pm, 6 days a week (Saturday is usually my turn my brain off day). More than once I've been told to be careful and I totally get. Funny thing is...this is me actively working on my work-life balance...the "joy" is SchoolJoy is a literal personal reminder to be present and find happiness. I was worse in my previous jobs.
The biggest difference is that I don't view SchoolJoy as a job. I am exactly where I am meant to be. This isn't my work - it has already become a part of who I am and who I will ever be. That brings me joy more than anything else in the world. If you know me, you know I've been searching for this for more than 10 years. SchoolJoy isn't a spur of the moment "idea," it's my decade long pursuit of happiness.
Throughout the past 2.5 years, we've been doing a lot of soul searching. We've taken a lot of wrong turns in support of a mission that I felt deserved and required the rest of my life: what does it mean to bring more joy to our education system. What does it mean to bring more joy to the learners we get to impact today and tomorrow? Here's the kicker...the answer is different for every single person. Joy is as unique to our identity as our fingerprint.
A truly "personalized" system is one that makes every person feel seen and heard...for them to feel that maybe, just maybe, everything will be ok. If not today, definitely some day. This goes beyond capturing their interests...it's something much deeper. It's also a moving target and I'm all for it.

Let's find our nimo.
