"A bunch of meetings, I can't get anything done," "Meetings are unproductive," "Let me work!" I often hear this from engineers, and immediately, I feel a sense of inferiority. It turns out that without these "unnecessary" meetings and calls, I can't work properly.

When I first started working at eyeo, I had an average of 4-5 hours of calls per week. This is an approximation, as I don't have the exact statistics. During the rest of the time, I managed to bring much more benefit to the company than when the duration of calls decreased to 1.5 hours per week.

Why? Because those meetings provided clarity on my tasks and the company's goals, helping me align my efforts more effectively. I had a much better idea of what I could do for the success of the company. I was much more motivated and had a greater emotional connection with my colleagues. While it's true that too many meetings can feel unproductive, I've found that the right amount of structured communication can significantly boost my efficiency and connection with the team.

Am I the only one, and are all other engineers different? This is a Saturday question :) What about you? How do meetings impact your productivity and motivation?
