Highlights
I just added "founder" to my LinkedIn headline!
Now that all my kids are in school for full-days, I began to casually look for full-time work just before the holidays: something that would allow me to keep one client contract that I want to hold on to & something that would give me the flexibility parenthood requires. I have 13 years of dynamic contract work on my resume, a formidable marketing portfolio, & a network banging on doors for me. I hit wall after wall. Turns out I'm not the only one.
So I'm doing something about it.
I've been a connector ever since I first got online. I was a beta tester for Blogger, a college rep for CollegeClub, & helmed a bloggers' conference from 2010- 2015 that companies like Poshmark, Squarespace, & Airbnb used to get the word out about who they were. I build digital communities to deepen actual relationships. I love it & I'm good at it.
That's why I'm thrilled to introduce Best & Well: a redemptive labor venture community. Together we grow real businesses for women in their next growth phase to greenhouse their creative pursuits & career endeavors side by side.
If you're
- a woman over 30 who wants structure, a channel, & accountability for your creative gifts...
- a mom worried about resume gaps...
- a woman in senior leadership, seeking an opportunity to mentor others...
- or simply a woman wondering "what's next?"... we're building you a homeland.
What's the best stuff from your work week this week?
Here are the three books I keep going over and over again as I wrap up my first week of launching a brand new venture:
- What To Do Next by Jeff Henderson
- The Redemptive Business by Praxis (recommended by Chris Adams)
- Smart Brevity by Jim VandeHei, Mike Allen, & Roy Schwartz (recommended by Kim Lundy)
I’ve written more about their impact on my Substack, linked in the comments.
