As we strive for more precise and unbiased data how do you achieve this in your research or industry? I’d love to hear your perspectives.
The most difficult part about research is that there is such a substantial time delay between work done in the lab and any benefit to patients. Since I first started my career in neuroscience, I've had a desire to fill this gap by doing translational research that brings the preclinical and clinical worlds closer together, so that we can get our findings into the hands of patients quickly and safely.
To that end, I've had the incredible opportunity to begin working with Dr. Read Montague, an absolute legend in the field of computational neuroscience, as a Clinical Analyst and Coordinator. I will be in charge of launching the Phoenix team of the group which is based at Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech. I will be acting in partnership with the neurosurgery department to conduct neurochemical recordings of patients during brain surgery to better understand what is going on under the hood.
The team is awesome, the work is cutting edge and I'm honored to join an institution with such a strong history of technological innovation.
