Highlights
When I think about brands, I often think about the culture that's built around them or what kind of culture gives birth to a brand. Because brands aren't created outside the context of culture.
A brand doesn't just remain a logo on a T-shirt or an Instagram profile pic. I think it's critically important to understand and study the issues of the culture you want to shape around the brand, because it's crucial for building relationships with both customers and employees.
Yes, it's a question of values, yes, it's questions about the idea. Overall, I understand this as culture in its entirety.
When getting a job, an employee picks up on the culture (or the vibe as they say now). A client visiting your social media page picks up on the communication and absorbs the brand's behavior culture.
Brands always create a culture around themselves. And people, by interacting with them, become advocates of this culture.
How does your favorite brand shape its culture?
Lately, I've been thinking a lot and coming across examples of what we call "brand experience."
It's when you feel a connection with a brand at every touchpoint or in any form of interaction with the company's product.
In these moments, emotions arise that either draw you into a stronger relationship with the brand (this is where conversion to target action increases) or push you away from it (increasing the likelihood of losing a customer).
I get how crucial this is for building relationships with a company's customers, but sadly, not all brands go beyond what they call identity or corporate style in communication.
It's super important to carry everything you create as a brand throughout the entire experience of your interaction with the customer - from the website to messages from chatbots in support.
Think about examples of experiences with brands around you and share your own experience in comments section.
The last time I personally got a kick out of how Apple designed the experience in Apple Fitness Plus - it's been a while since I felt so good about how a service works and how the content production and overall vibe are done.
