An oil transforms during an infusion, taking on a different viscosity, hue, and scent. When the oil is strained, it contains the memories of the herb and is imbued with therapeutic actions.

This Winter, I shared a deep resonance with the Pacifict Northwest native tree, Populus trichocarpa. In years past, I would only make a visit in a short window near the tailend of Winter to gather its tree buds.

On many of my recent nature outings, the Black Cottonwood was the tree that spoke to me most. The theme of our conversations was frequently about resilience.
