ok it’s official!

this fall I will be starting a PhD program in social work at Washington University in St. Louis. i’ll be continuing to work at the intersection of public health and social work to find ways to minimize the downstream effects of adverse childhood experiences as they shape the lives individuals, families, and communities throughout the life course.

my primary areas of interest are child maltreatment/developmental trauma, substance use and addiction, the way individuals interact with institutions and complex systems over time, and the use of implementation science and translational research to improve behavioral health outcomes for institutionally-involved populations.

my past fieldwork has been in the criminal justice arena, and am particularly interested in finding ways to scale integrated, comprehensive trauma treatment for these populations as they are among those who need it most. this is a tall order, i know. fortunately my studies will be partly supported by an NIH/NIDA T32 research and training fellowship, as well as some very wonderful faculty working in this area. there are a lot of exciting developments ahead, so please stay tuned.

if you are reading this and would like to collaborate or connect, please reach out. it’s been awhile since i left the creative industry and i’d love to get back into filmmaking as well. documentaries, anyone?

hope you are all taking good care of yourselves!
