A big part of what I do is managing an increasingly diverse industrial portfolio. That means some travel, hotels during trade shows, renting a car, not renting a car. IMTS in Chicago was the latest, I am sitting at O’hare as I write this. As much as I have done this, so many times, I still get caught out in rookie mistakes. The following pics are not unlike many things you see on other social media threads. Note that food prices are posted, alcohol is not. The food seems reasonable, an ok sandwich yet airport marginalized. Mediumish size, no chips, no pickle…. Two pints for $25 when you have to ask an overworked and over busy server how much the drink is? It’s BS. The price is too high sure, but the way it is done, it’s just, I don’t know, what’s a good word for it? I don’t mind, at times, paying a premium. There are legitimate times when it costs more to get goods from one place to another. This is not one of those times. Sadly, the Rick Bayless empire is now an enemy. The sandwich is not what it used to be anyway.
