Highlights
It all started when I was 12 years old in Homestead builder…
I may not be very old, but I know I’m aging myself with this.
Homestead was one of the first drag-and-drop website builder application that was designed for amateurs.
I was just a young kid with a passion for entrepreneurship working alongside my dad, Curtis Parcell, on some lead generation landing pages.
Little did I know that this would become the start of my passion and future career.
Fast forward to college where I started creating websites as a side hustle.
Having just learned enough about WordPress to be dangerous, I sold my first 3 websites for $300 a piece.
I had no idea what went into building a website. I probably made less than $5/hour on these sites.
But it was a start and I’m so grateful for those first 3 companies that took a (small) chance on a young kid like me.
Yesterday, I turned 27. Reflecting back on my journey, it’s crazy to think about where I started 15 years ago versus where I am today.
I’ve gone from:
Drag-and-drop in Homestead and Wix ➡️ Legitimate class-first WordPress builder
No plan ➡️ Robust 7-step process
Throwing random sections together on a page ➡️ Deep understanding of UX
Pre-made website templates ➡️ custom responsive and accessible websites
No matter where you’re at in your journey: ☑ Start somewhere. ☑ Learn as you go. ☑ Adapt and refine your craft as you go.
I’m curious, at what age did you start your journey into what you’re doing now?
