The annual event for The Denver Children's Foundation and Christmas for Kids Event is this Saturday, 12/09. Christmas for Kids is an event where the members of DCF pick up Denver Public Schools students at 5:30 a.m. to take them shopping at Target before the store opens to the public. Each student walks the aisles with a DCF member and picks out presents to give to their loved ones. DCF then gift wraps the presents so that the students can take the presents home to their family and put them under their Christmas tree, if they're fortunate to have one.
This year, DCF has the opportunity to take 40% more children shopping, making this the largest Christmas for Kids ever!
These kids are nominated by the wonderful nonprofit Denver Kids, Inc. and are chosen for the event due to their success in school this year or because of their ability to overcome a recent obstacle. All students they serve are economically disadvantaged with 97% of them qualifying for free or reduced lunch through Denver Public Schools. Anything you can do helps out immensely, even if it’s a little.
