I’m thrilled to share that I've started a new position as Technical Writer at FCC Consulting Services! I actually started back in May on a test contract, and I've been converted to an employee this month. My first ever salaried position!
After finding myself in the enviable but nerve-wracking position of competing offers last month, I'm so glad I chose FCC. Everyone on the team has been very welcoming and supportive. I especially like that the job role has much more variety than almost any of the other 1k+ positions I applied to. So far, I'm preparing Office templates, producing user help documentation, editing or proofreading a variety of technical documents and proposals, creating forms, and working on press releases.
After more than a decade of part-time, hourly contract work, the move to full-time, salaried employee (and from a California- to New Jersey-based company) has been tough but so worth the growing pains. It feels amazing to finally be a respected member of a team on equal footing with my colleagues instead of eking out a living at the bottom of the food chain.
2019 me, who was struggling so deeply with depression and slept more than 12hrs a day, would never have believed I'd ever happily be taking 7am CST conference calls. In addition to this new job, my depression is in remission thanks to last winter's Spravato and TMS treatments. I truly never dreamed I would be in this position, and I cannot express my gratitude enough for the opportunity.
