Jae Kwon is a blockchain software architect and co-founder of Tendermint, as well as the president of the Interchain Foundation.1 He graduated from Cornell University in 2005 with a B.S. degree in computer science.1 After graduation, Kwon worked as a professional developer in Silicon Valley, including at Alexa and Yelp, where he led the mobile application development team.1

In 2014, Kwon founded Tendermint and later co-created Cosmos, a blockchain ecosystem.23 He served as CEO of Tendermint until January 2020, when he stepped down to work on another project called Virgo.3 In May 2022, following a rebranding of Tendermint to Ignite, Kwon rejoined his old team as the CEO of NewTendermint LLC, a newly formed entity focused on contributing to the Cosmos ecosystem core technology.4

Kwon has worked on numerous open-source projects, including a CoffeeScript compiler/interpreter, an end-to-end encrypted email system called Scramble.io, and a cryptocurrency exchange.1 His current work with NewTendermint involves developing Gno.land, a smart contracting platform designed to compete with Ethereum, as well as continuing work on Tendermint2 and the Cosmos SDK.4
