Highlights
I just wrapped up my first week at Electronic Arts in a new role, Head of Global Social Impact. I’m feeling energized and optimistic about the power of play and what interactive entertainment and the gaming community can mean for people and planet. I’m grateful for the warm welcome from Emily R. and other leaders and the amazing social impact team (Edan Enriquez, Julie Wynn, MPA, Teryll Hopper, Angie Y., Angelina Ortiz, Ine Van Aken).
Together we are creating employee experiences, community partnerships, and inspiring stories to advance access and opportunity to STEAM education and create a positive impact in all the spaces we live, work, and PLAY.
Let’s get to work!

Thanks to the Applied Materials Foundation (Julie Lata & Siobhan Kenney) for using its voice to convene #socialimpact leaders and funders today around the effects of the pandemic on #girls and gender-expansive youth and the organizations that serve and support them. It was great to see so many familiar faces at the lunch and hold space for such an important conversation.
How do we show up for girls? What will we do to make youth seen, heard, and valued? How will we build their self-efficacy to do hard things?
Some learnings I will bring to my work:
☑ Corporate partners and grantmakers need to understand and support the whole girl–not just the afterschool STEM program but all the things that youth bring with them to the programs we fund.
☑ Join an alliance. Be a collaborator. Support the network. There is so much power in the ecosystem.
☑ Listen to the constituents served and let youth take the lead and drive what you do. Who better to trust with lifting up the voice of girls than girls themselves.
☑ Create space for belonging for girls and gender-expansive youth to show up authentically. Not just DO the thing but LEARN the thing.
☑ Representation matters. Bringing more people into these spaces and building a pipeline creates a powerful, sustainable cycle for transformational change.
