Last year, after over a decade in business, I faced one of the darkest times of my life. A former friend and potential business partner made dishonest choices that severely impacted my company. He misled clients, criticized our team, and stole money, forcing me to let him go. This resulted in losing clients, revenue, and momentum. I had to clean up the mess, mend relationships, and cover an abandoned investment, which drained my personal and business savings.
Taking Responsibility
Blaming others gives them power over you. Despite these setbacks, I took full responsibility for my life and decisions. It was difficult to accept that someone else’s poor choices could wreak such havoc, but ignoring my instincts proved costly.

My family and I discussed the situation around our kitchen table. We tightened our budget, cut unnecessary expenses, and planned how to get through this. My kids even offered their savings to help pay bills, which moved me deeply, though I didn’t accept their offer.

A Year Later
Removing toxic people has been transformative. This year has been much better in many ways. Our team is more aligned and motivated, and our clients are seeing incredible results. While Q2 last year was the first quarter in a decade where we lost money, Q2 this year has been the most profitable in several years. My family is stronger, closer, and more resilient.
