Last night, I had a dream so profound that I willed myself awake to write down what I heard.

In the dream, we were in a luxurious high-rise condominium with an elevator large enough for cars. My children, wife, ex-wife, and an unknown friend were all there. My ex-wife began talking about how she was a "made man" and how the CIA was after her. My new friend teased her, saying his dad worked for the ICP. I realized he was joking about Insane Clown Posse and giggled to myself.

As usual, the conversation turned into an argument, and I told her to leave. She refused, so I threatened to call the police. Eventually, I coaxed her into the elevator, and she spat on the glass. In this moment of frustration, I turned to see my oldest son, now in his mid-twenties, dressed in anime-inspired clothing with some cool friends. He then said to me, "Happiness is the active engagement with what's around you."

The dream became surreal, but I kept repeating this phrase. I found myself explaining its significance, feeling a smile as I breathed deeply, interacting with the air. I repeated the phrase until I realized I had to wake up to remember it.

When I awoke, I felt my youngest son's tiny hand, cherishing its softness. I almost forgot the phrase, but hurried to write it down. After some effort, I recalled the exact words: "Happiness is the active engagement with what's around you."

Simple yet profound. My mind wandered to how I could share this message, but I noticed my happiness fading as I became less mindful. I told myself, "No... Stop... Engage."

With this, I reentered a mindful state, filled with sustainable joy. I marveled at the world around me, childlike in my wonder. The hardest part of mindfulness is avoiding thoughts of the past and future. When such thoughts arose, I reminded myself, "Stop... Engage."

I took a breath and reconnected with my surroundings, smiling as I noticed new details in my home. I decided to write this down in hopes of spreading happiness to you all.

Amor Fati.
