We've always known that intended and actual behaviour were not aligned. Some really interesting data out of the US showing that even though occupiers have been mandating employees return to the office, actual occupancy within assets hasn't changed significantly.

As an asset owner, looking at this data raises plenty of questions, because a building with low occupancy isn't good for anyone.

Occupiers looking at this data have to wonder how effective their RTO mandates really are.

I'm surprised this didn't get that much airtime; the The Australian Financial Review highlighting the significant challenges and opportunities faced by large corporates, but also the owners who provide the physical space.

To be able to make sense of this, both supply and demand need to move away from anecdotes and use real data to inform future strategies. Data that we already have and we're not using effectively!
