I am excited to share that after over two years of collaboration across Treasury, Jonathan Bittner's team at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and the Alaska Federation of Natives , Treasury announced an award of up to $83 million in State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) funding to a consortium of 125 Tribes in Alaska. The award is expected to bring up to ten times that amount in private leverage to Alaska's Tribal and rural economy. Huge thanks to the University, which is operating the program on behalf of the consortium.

Supporting this consortium has been a big part of my work since I joined Treasury in 2021 and I am so proud to see these resources reach Alaska Tribes. Consistent with EO 14112, Treasury engaged in Tribal consultation and adopted a minimum allocation to ensure all Tribes had access to this funding, extended deadlines to facilitate applications, and customized guidance to address unique aspects of Tribal economies.
